Probably best known for its strong technology and innovation platform, our client today has diversified its business and is an end-to-end player that serves many industries including health and life sciences, consumer, defence and security, energy and utilities, financial services, government, manufacturing, and transport.


The Nordic Life Sciences Team of our client consists of 25 dedicated experts that are highly knowledgeable in biotech, pharma, healthcare, and medical technology consulting. 2 Partners, 3 Managing Consultants, and 20 Principal Consultants and Consultants cover the whole value chain from discovery and research to marketing and sales, addressing the consulting needs of both private and public organizations.

THE POSITION

The Managing Consultant, Life Sciences is a consultant role at the second most senior level, Partner being the next level, and a role that covers all aspects of consulting from business development to the leading of medium to large complex assignments for clients. At our client, Managing Consultants are not constrained by a narrow role description and take a hands-on, “roll up your sleeves” approach to do what is necessary to meet the client needs – often in close collaboration with a team of supporting consultants.


This role will further anchor the Nordic Life Sciences platform by contributing a strong set of capabilities from the value chain to provide value for our client and its clients, complementing an already strong digital advisory and technology organization from a business and commercial perspective.


The Managing Consultant will be a key touch point for the most senior levels within the client organizations. In collaboration with these senior business leaders, this role will use their specialized skillset to define the client organization’s needs and drive forward a strategic response to meet them. Utilizing their strong understanding of the life sciences market, this role will bring insight to key stakeholders to help them build sustainable success.

As needed and dependent on project/assignment.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

Business Development

  • Actively engaging in account management with client organizations, building deep lasting relationships and delivering high value results.

  • Taking responsibility for initiating and leading commercial e.g., sales and other business development activities leading towards a strong personal sales target in the range of 5 million DKK.

  • Selling and operating across national boundaries bringing in our client's people and/or services outside their own field of expertise.

  • Driving the Nordic Life Sciences Strategy to achieve expected growth targets e.g.; by opening new accounts or opening up new areas of existing accounts by taking the global Life Sciences organization’s propositions to the market.

Project Delivery and People Management

  • Being part of the Nordic Life Sciences Leadership team and taking on related responsibilities and tasks.

  • Working as an assignment manager on medium/ large complex projects, typically supervising 2-3 consultants as project lead.

  • Engaging in line management and people development responsibilities.

  • Displaying strong consulting skills, including a high degree of communication and presentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Promoting a diverse and inclusive culture.

  • Utilizing good commercial acumen to understand requirements and formulate realistic and robust solutions while appreciating and managing risk appropriately.

  • Demonstrating the ability to lead project teams and leading multiple projects concurrently.

  • Developing strong relationships with colleagues and maintaining such a network to ensure that all opportunities are developed carefully.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Educational background:

Preferably degree in nature science, commercial or medical technology-related field. Advanced degree (Master’s/MBA or PhD) considered a plus.

Language:

Fluent in English (verbal and written).

Ideal experience and competencies:

  • Executive experience in R&D (e.g., clinical development, safety/PV, drug development), digital, commercial excellence, PMO, market access, and/or corporate development through consulting and/or through a relevant life science company.

  • Possesses a well-developed network of executives in the Life Sciences industry.

  • Documented track record in delivering top quality results in own area of expertise/specialization.

  • A track record of successful project delivery working within a major professional services consulting firm is considered a plus.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the life sciences industry and relevant players, public and/or private.

  • Experience with transformation processes is highly preferred.

  • Possesses a natural ability for and/or has previous experience in sales e.g., budget management.

  • Prior people management experience - can be from project team leadership.
